enhance and expand student interest in learning as they develop a practical, conceptual understanding.
Prepare teachers to implement Instruction pedagogy and innovative teaching into their classroom.

Subject without boundaries. No one needs to know the teaching concepts, also the techniques and tools. The workshop will have two components: Theory and practice. Aim
1. Take (through selection test / academic / financial merit / demerit) 8th class students for intensive coaching (supplementary - on holidays / leisure time) till they reach 12th class. -
Each year a batch of 100 may add to make it as a continuous program. Train them for the Model Citizens. Educate them through E-/Net- Learning.
2. Provide extra coaching in Soft Skill / Life Skill for 9th to 12th class - Specific selected aspiring group). Mold them towards Higher Goals.
3. Inspire Graduate Students to play Social Responsible Activity / Drive them to Higher Learning.
4. HR / Life / Soft Skill Training.
5. Teachers / Tutors / Trainers Training Sessions – centralized location periodically
6. Create a centre for Good Communicative English
Create good - socially committed - leaders / administrators / judiciaries / doctors / scientists / engineers / Entrepreneurs etc.
Infrastructure Required
A centre with Office, 2 Class Rooms for 100, Computer centre.
Manpower Required
Coordinator : A Social Worker (Young and Dynamic) for Coordination (could be an MBA/MSW from Science/Technology background)
Faculty (Tutors) shall be Young Graduate / Post-Graduate Students on Volunteer / Less payment.
Guest Faculty / on call / invitation / Visits - Celebrated who shall give Direction / Educate at High Profile knowledge
Advisory / Controlling Body
A group of People who shall make sure the facility / Creating Contacts / Supporting the day to day affair / help in selection process / take care of guests / give publicity etc.
Payment / Budget - FIRST YEAR. (Shall multiply in years for FIVE FOLD)
Infrastructure could be a rented Building / In due course an owned one. (Cost could be around Rs.20,000 X 12) = 240,000
Tutors shall be paid @Rs.200 per hour. 2 class rooms for 50 each.
Guest Faculty shall be paid @Rs.1000 per hour. Single session for 100.
120 Working days (normal leisure / holidays) X 6 hours (Guest Faculty : Tutor ratio 5:1 = @Rs.3000 for 6 = make average Rs.500/=) = 60,000
Salary + Material cost / Computer / E-material / Hospitality for Guests / Support for needy etc. = 200,000

sir,
ever since i had been to sobha hermitage on 1st sept, i feel like i had got a totally new outlook towards life as a whole. Your class was not just about the teaching, it covered almost all aspects of life. It was such a booster of confidence sir, and i consider myself very lucky to meet you and attend your class. I am now looking forward for a weekend without any other programs to rush to shobha academy and meet the students there. There can be nothing else so heart-filling and satisfying than that. Because , we cannot give others anything bigger than education. hello sir,
i'm lakshmi, an m.com student of vimala college and had attended your workshop conducted at the shobha hermitage on the 1st of september, wednesday. i dont know if you remember me. i was the one who presented our group's topic and our idea was to start our school and that is how we presented it. i hope you get me now. 
we did not wait for the evening tea an left soon after the programme as some of our friends came from far away places and we didnt want them to late which is why we couldnt come and say bye to you personally. in fact some of them thought of leaving at 3 when we boarded our bus from thrissur. but, let me tell you, we didnt have the slightest clue even when the clock stuck 5 because the class was so very intreresting. thank you sir and we'll keep in touch.

Today’s competitive scenario in academics, targets at work, presentations or perhaps job or course interviews do not allow scope for second chances.
To scale successfully the ladder of success, we almost need to be prompt with everything, have answers on our tips and simultaneously be on our toes. However with technological advancements, there are enough sources to distract and pull us back from our optimum functioning or confound brain processing. THERE ARE MANY WHO ARE DEPRIVED OF BOTH GOOD EDUCATION AND ALSO THE ADVANCED TECHNOLOGICAL FACILITIES. THEY HAVE MORE LIFE SUSTAINING WORRIES.
Poor attention span, distractibility, inability to prioritize, getting lost or anxious with the copious and unending school or competitive exam syllabus tend to be some issues that interfere with and increase the gap between ability & achievement.
With more environmental demands, we all seem to struggle to find ways to balance between work & pleasure, despite long hours of efforts why one is still not able to retain or retrieve the needed matter. Why does this occur? Where does the fault lie? What all aspects contribute towards putting across the knowledge we learn, how to assimilate the vast information we are exposed to?
Wisdom is to knowing what to do next. Skill is knowing how to do it, and virtue is doing it,” observed David Starr Jordan. Most of us know what we need to do in order to live happier, healthier and fulfilling lives. The real problem is that we don’t do what we know. I have heard many motivational speakers say, “ Knowledge is power”. I disagree. Knowledge is not power. Knowledge is potential power. It transforms itself into actual power the moment you decisively act on it.
The mark of a strong character lies not in doing what is fun to do or what is easy to do. The sign of deep moral authority appears in the individual who consistently does what he ought to be doing rather than what he feels like doing. A person of true character spends his days doing that which is the right thing to do. Rather than watching television for three hours after an exhausting day at work, he has the courage to get up off the cough and read to the kids. Instead of sleeping in on those cold wintry mornings, this individual exercises his natural reserves of self – discipline and gets out of bed for a run. Add since action is a habit, the more you will feel like taking.
This time our school interaction at SOBHA is for academicians / those who love teaching. We will focus on effective and innovative strategies of teaching that would facilitate classroom teaching and learning. Techniques to build interest, concentration and memorisation for students based on core neuro-cognitive principles.
Through presentations, exercises, case examples, videos and games, focus should be on understanding:
· Nature of cognitive skills like Attention, Memory & Learning, how they function, what aids them and what interrupts functioning and strategies that would enhance their working.
· Covering the syllabus more systematically & efficiently
· Learning & Teaching Styles
· Skills to enhance self-potential
· How to decrease burden & enjoy learning
· Specific study skills
SPECICIFIC TO ICON
ICON is the unconventional study intervention that is active for the 8th class students of Kizhakkanchery Government High School. Selected 90 will be with ICON for the next 5 years during weekends and holidays. Focus will be on the scholastic development, apart from the soft skill and life skill. Presently the students are shifted to English medium. We are providing classes to improve their scholastic with good communicative skills. Reading news paper and acquiring general knowledge is being taught. Mannerism, communication skill, learning ability improvement, collective care, share group activities, health tips too are focused.
The idea is to spread the message and also to replicate the activity at many other centres. The required faculty and management training will be focused in phased manner at SOBHA. The first session towards this innovative project is starting on September 1st 2010 at SOBHA Hermitage, Panniyankara.

BRIEF
CSR of SOBHA is supporting Kizhakkanchery and Vadakanchery Panchayaths through Social Empowerment towards Employment, Health Centre and The Sobha Academy for the Child Education for the past few years. The dream of Sri. PNC Menon to Educationally Empower the Youth is the start of icon since June 2010.
CATCH THEM YOUNG
Conceived through brain-storming long discussions decided to select the 8th class students of Kizhakkanchery Government High School for a five year long holiday classes. May be 600 days of intensive training on English Communication and Other Scholastic Talents alongside an overall development as an Individual. Equal footings are given to Improve Life skill and Soft Skills.
SELECTED A FEW
90 students out of over 300 students are selected with a weeklong interactive session / test followed by interviewing parents. Selection process was with the support of the School Authorities and PTA. Parents are briefed about the projects and the support that is required.
PUNCTUALITY / ATTENDENCE AND DISCIPLINE
Students’ attendance and punctuality is strictly followed. First class was on 26th June 2010, a harthal day. 83 out of 90 students were present; a few had walked over 20 kms to reach the class. Half a dozen students are dismissed on disciplinary grounds. These measures are sending a credibility message among the public.
FACILITIES AND SUPPORTS
Classes are conducted at Sobha Hermitage / Academy / Kurumba Kalyana Mandapam. PowerPoint Presentations, Video and other E-Learning tools are used.
Students are given a pair of uniform dress and necessary books and study materials. Facility supports and arrangements for their commutation are arranged with parents’ initiatives and supports.
Morning break-fast and lunch is provided. All students are made to drink water at regular intervals by providing water bottle at their seat.
ENGLISH COMMUNICATION
Students are encouraged to shift to English Medium. Out of 90 students, over 70 are shifted due to the icon program. School now added three English medium sections to support this.
NEWS PAPER READING & ACQUIRING GK
Subsidized rate on The New Indian Express English News Paper is supporting to subscribe. Students are taught to read news paper and given assignments to make sure that they follow it systematically. Classes are conducted to prepare students for quizzing teaching GK.
FACULTY
Teachers of high quality / students with teaching skills / college faculty who can translate the knowledge to 8th class level, professionals from various fields are all invited to talk to students to cater to all-round development.
CREATING TEACHERS
Workshops will be conducted to general students’ community / professionals / teachers, who all have the interest in teaching on adaptive learning / teaching skills. First course is planned on September 1st. The creative discussion on replicating similar program will also be discussed on such forum.
Many of the school teachers at various levels and neighboring college students are met on various programs and lectures sessions to popularize and draw educated lot into teaching at icon.
